Is it safe for babies to sleep in a car seat or capsule?

Capsules are safe for sleep when used correctly and for short durations, such as during car journeys or brief walks. However, they’re not designed for prolonged or overnight sleep. Because capsules keep babies in a semi-upright position, long periods can place extra pressure on their developing airways and spine.

-Use capsules only for transport or short naps on the go.

-Move your baby to a flat, firm sleep surface (bassinet or cot) once you arrive home.

-Always follow the manufacturer’s installation and recline guidelines.

-Ensure your baby’s head does not tilt forward — adjust inserts and harnesses as needed.

For longer naps and everyday strolling, pair your pram with a compatible Carry Cot (e.g., Olive or Oscar Nu) to provide a safe, flat surface.

How long do capsules last?

Most capsules are suitable from newborn up to around 12 months, depending on your baby’s height and weight.

When your baby outgrows their capsule (e.g., head within ~2 cm of the top of the shell or weight limit reached), move to a toddler car seat or convertible seat, and continue using your Edwards & Co pram with the regular seat unit.
