Why is the Avery capsule no longer available?

The Avery capsule has been a much-loved and trusted product for New Zealand families, used by thousands of parents and widely recommended for its ease of installation, quality, and value.

We’ve made the decision to stop selling the Avery capsule due to changes in European regulations.

The European safety standard the Avery capsule was certified under (ECER44) has now ceased being sold in Europe. As a result, we chose not to renew the Avery manufacturing certification after 31 December 2025, and instead move forward with capsules certified to the newer EN129 (i-Size) standard through our partnership with Maxi-Cosi.

Is there anything wrong or unsafe about the Avery capsule?

Absolutely not.

  • There are no safety issues with the Avery capsule
  • The Avery capsule remains legal to use and sell in New Zealand
  • All existing Avery capsules continue to meet NZ safety requirements
  • Parents can continue using their Avery capsule with complete confidence

This decision was about future-proofing our range, not product performance or safety.

Why the change?

As global standards evolve, we’re committed to ensuring our capsule range aligns with the latest international safety developments and offers families long-term compatibility and reassurance. Moving to EN129-certified capsules allows us to do just that.
