Can I use a baby pram with a capsule?
Yes, you can use a baby pram with a compatible infant capsule. Edwards & Co prams are designed to work as a convenient travel system, allowing you to click a capsule directly onto the pram frame using the correct capsule adapters. This means you can move your baby from the car to the pram (or back again) without disturbing their sleep, a huge help for busy parents.
Our Avery Capsule and Avery Capsule Base are designed to work with Oscar, Olive & Lucci.
Other capsule brands such as Maxi Cosi & Nuna can be used with our prams with the Oscar/Olive Universal Adapter or Lucci Universal Adapter. Specific capsule models that can be used with each pram are detailed in the adapter pages. Your baby shouldn't be left in a capsule for extended periods, capsules are designed for travel, not long-term sleeping.
Which baby pram is best?
The best baby pram depends on your lifestyle, budget, and where you’ll use it most. Here are a few key things to consider when choosing:
Ease of Use & Fold: Look for a pram that folds quickly and fits easily into your car or home.
Safety & Standards: Make sure it meets AS/NZS 2088:2023 or AS 2088:2022 (the Australian/New Zealand safety standard for prams and strollers).
Terrain & Suspension: If you’re walking on mixed terrain or off-road tracks, choose a model with robust wheels and suspension for a smooth ride.
Longevity: A pram that can convert from newborn to toddler mode or works with a capsule or second seat offers the best long-term value.
Accessories & Compatibility: Check for capsule adapters, bassinets, snack trays, and other accessories to match your needs.
Edwards & Co’s Oscar Nu is a popular all-rounder in New Zealand and Australia, while the Lucci is a lightweight travel stroller ideal for city trips or holidays. Visit comparison guides Olive vs Oscar (larger prams) or Otto vs Lucci (smaller prams) or speak with our team to find the perfect fit for your family.
Will my pram fit in the boot?
Most modern prams including Edwards & Co models are designed to fit in the boot of a standard car (even a Suzuki Swift!), but boot sizes vary, so it’s always best to check the folded dimensions of your pram against your vehicle’s boot space.
Here’s how to make sure:
Measure your boot: Note the width, depth, and height.
Compare with pram specs: You’ll find the folded dimensions for Edwards & Co prams on each product page under the “Specifications” tab.
Consider removing wheels or seats: On models like the Oscar Nu, popping off the wheels or seat can create extra space if your boot is compact.
Test it in-store if unsure: Many baby stores (like Baby Bunting or our retail partners) will let you try fitting the demo pram into your car boot before you buy.
Tip: Our lightweight Lucci travel stroller is especially popular with families looking for a compact boot-friendly option.
Why lock the pram wheels? (Front Swivel Lock)
Locking the swivel on your pram’s front wheels provides extra stability and control in certain situations. While swivel wheels make it easier to manoeuvre around shops and tight corners, there are times when a locked front wheel is safer and smoother:
Rough or uneven terrain: On gravel, grass, sand, or cobblestones, locked wheels stop the pram from “shimmying” and make it track straight.
Jogging or brisk walking: Locking the wheels reduces wobble and keeps the pram steady at higher speeds.
Inclines or declines: It helps prevent the pram from veering unexpectedly when going up or down hills.
Added safety: A locked wheel keeps the pram from swivelling suddenly if it catches on a bump or curb.
For everyday urban use on smooth paths or indoors, swivel mode is usually best for easy turning. Switch between swivel and lock depending on where you’re walking for the smoothest and safest ride.
Where can I buy a pram?
You can buy a baby pram from a variety of places depending on your needs and preferences:
Baby specialty stores: Visit trusted retailers like Baby Bunting, Global Baby, or other nursery stores for expert advice and the chance to test prams in person.
Online shopping: Order directly from Edwards & Co for our full range, current promotions, and fast shipping across New Zealand and Australia.
Independent retailers: Many local baby boutiques also stock Edwards & Co products supporting small businesses and offering personalised service.
Tip: If you’re unsure which pram is best for you, try visiting a store where you can test-fold it, check accessories, and even see if it fits your car boot before purchasing.
Can you take a pram on the plane?
Yes, most airlines allow you to take a pram or stroller when you travel, but policies vary so it’s important to check with your airline before you fly. Here are some general tips:
At the airport: Many airlines let you keep your pram with you until boarding, then check it at the gate for free.
Size & weight limits: Compact travel strollers, like Lucci, are often accepted as carry-on or cabin baggage because they fold small enough to fit overhead lockers. Larger prams usually need to be checked.
Protecting your pram: Use a travel bag or padded cover to prevent damage during handling.
Arrival: Gate-checked prams are usually returned to you at the aircraft door or baggage claim, depending on the airline and destination.
Always review your airline’s stroller and infant equipment policy in advance to avoid surprises.
What stroller is best for a newborn?
The best stroller for a newborn is one that:
Lies flat or has a bassinet/carry-cot so your baby can recline safely.
Is capsule compatible for easy car-to-pram transfers.
Has strong safety features (5-point harness, good brakes, sturdy frame).
Offers good suspension and larger wheels for a smooth ride on uneven paths.
Is easy to fold and lift so you can handle it one-handed.
Travel systems (a pram with capsule combo), bassinet-mode strollers, or fully reclining prams are my top choices.
